When reflective paint reflecting

When the light is not on, the reflective ink is mat grey. Imagine very fine sandpaper, the surface is bit like that. It is hard to see how it really look like when its reflecting. Well it looks like this ↓

Alice in Wonderland by Jonathan Miller

Recently watched again " Alice in wonderland" by Jonathan Miller. BBC television play shot in 1966 based on Lewis Carroll's novel. it is a very trippy film in what i imagine smoking opium kind of way. Beautifully shot in black and white, set design in some scenes are really amazing. Something between Francesca Woodman and Tim Walker's images. Ravi Shankar did the soundtrack to the film. Tabla on English Victorian tale might sounds odd to you, but it goes so perfectly. Our SS 2006 womenswear " Prince charming" collection began watching this film.

DONKEY COAT IN TELEGRAPH

Sported by socialists, adopted by students and seized on by skinheads, the donkey jacket isn't the obvious candidate for the next menswear trend. But times have changed, and designers can always relied on to spruce up an old idea, no matter how humble its origins. Sachiko Okada and Aaron Sharif of the British label BLAAK were quick to nominate thier twist on the donkey jacket as the key piece from their a/w 09 collection, Man vs Machine.

STARTING POINT SS10

At the very beginning of designing Spring Summer 2010 collection, we made masks to encapsulate the essence of what the collection will be. We already had the title " Somewhere between Voodoo and Hindu " which was a quote we came across researching Haiti. Masks were made of found branches, nuts & bolts, leather code, shells all mixed. From here we had the idea of electroforming (metalized) the objects in silver and gold, which we then made neck pieces for the show.

'SING IT BACK' by Roisin Murphy

'SING IT BACK' was the anthem of summer 1999 no doubt.
10 years on, its still been played. it put you in that nice summer feeling instantly.
I heard it in Milan this summer, brought back some memories.

Each mirror pieces are cut in different sizes from a huge panel, then drill-holed so it can be sewn individually to the dress. It was quite a labor, but wearing it must have been as hard.

FILM INSTALLATION AT SOMERSET HOUSE

On MAN day, the last day of London fashion week, BLAAK had film installation as part of Fashion East orchestrated by Lulu Kennedy.
3 short films were projected on 3 angled walls in the basement tunnel at Somerset House. Like a troll, films moved from a wall to another showing always the trinity.
